Things that you might find interesting ...
Other companies' offerings (updated 20 August 2008)
We occassionally run across products that are worthwhile and interesting, and when we do, we see no reason to keep them secret.
- Leximancer, Inc. sells a content analysis tool for text files. The tool tries to determine what one or more text files are "about," and the online demo provides as good explanation of the product. Educational pricing is available, and they offer a fee-for-service online version of the product, as well as providing a stand alone executable for Macintosh and Windows machines.
- Do you need more types of trees in your forest than the red-black tree provided in the C++ STL? Dr. Kaspar Peeters provides the useful and valuable tree.hh which is an implementation of the n-ary tree.
Online News about Technology (updated 1 August 2008)
Keeping up with technological news can be a project of its own. There are a few podcasts that we subscribe to to keep up to date, and here is the list:
- To get something other than a solely American point of view, try the BBC's Digital Planet.
- The Washington Post has a formidable online presence. Included in their offering is the Post Technology Podcast, a show that is oriented toward personal computers, digital cameras, and other consumer toys.
- Not to be outdone, the New York Times offers its readers a similar, but broader coverage of technology topics in its technology podcast.
